Leapmotor B03X global debut hints at pricing challenges for Nepal launch

Stellantis-backed Chinese electric vehicle maker Leapmotor has opened pre-orders in Europe for its new B03X compact electric crossover, with a starting price of about Rs 29–30 lakh equivalent, more than double what the same vehicle costs in China according to the company's announcement.

What is the Leapmotor B03X?

The B03X is the global version of the A10 that Leapmotor sells in the Chinese market. It has the same body, battery options and overall design, but gets more powerful motors and European WLTP range ratings.

Leapmotor's European site lists two variants:

  • Pro: 39.8 kWh LFP battery, up to 292 km WLTP range, 130 kW motor, 0–100 km/h in 8.6 seconds.
  • Pro Max: 53 kWh LFP battery, up to 382 km WLTP range, 145 kW motor, 0–100 km/h in 8.6 seconds.

Both versions support 2.5C DC fast charging and take roughly 16–17 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. Top speed is 160 km/h.

Europe vs China price gap

In China, the A10 was launched in four trims priced between roughly Rs 8.7 lakh and Rs 11.5 lakh. According to Leapmotor and industry reports, the B03X in Europe starts at around €24,900, which converts to roughly Rs 29–30 lakh, more than double the top-spec A10's China pricing.

This price jump reflects higher logistics costs, taxes and compliance for European markets, and is an important reference point as Nepal prepares to receive the model.

Nepal angle: B03X coming soon

Leapmotor is already present in Nepal with the B10 sedan, which launched locally at about Rs 50 lakh. Local auto outlets have confirmed that the Leapmotor B03 (closely related to the B03X/A10) is "set to launch in Nepal" and is expected to debut at the upcoming NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026.

Given the China–Europe price gap and the B10's positioning in Nepal, industry watchers expect the B03/B03X compact electric SUV to arrive in the Rs 35–45 lakh band, depending on variant and equipment. Final prices will depend on customs, dealer margins and any EV tax changes.

For Nepali buyers, the B03X-class vehicle would sit below premium electric SUVs like the BYD Atto 3 in price, but above smaller city EVs. Its compact dimensions, fast charging and usable real-world range could suit Kathmandu and other urban centres. Buyers currently looking at mid-size petrol crossovers are likely to cross-shop it.

If Leapmotor brings the European-spec B03X hardware and software – including Leap OS, remote control features and the newer battery platform – Nepali customers could get one of the more technically advanced compact EVs in the sub-Rs 50 lakh segment.

However, the European pricing confirms that Nepal is unlikely to see the headline-grabbing low China price. The B03/B03X is more likely to compete on technology and running costs than on sticker price alone.
